About Jim Bridger
At the age of 18 years, Jim Bridger joined a group of travelers led by General William Henry Ashley to explore the upper part of the Missouri River. He later teamed up with fellow mountaineer Louis Vasquez to establish the Fort Bridger, which was located on the famous Blacks Fork, in 1843.
Seven years later, he discovered the Bridger Pass while working as a guard during the Stansbury Expedition. He was also one of the owners of the Rocky Mountain Fur Company.
Personal Life
He was born to Chloe and James Bridger. He was married to a lady called Emma with whom he fathered three kids. He also had two children with Mary Washakie Bridger.
Interesting facts
After Hugh Glass was attacked by a bear in 1823, he decided to stay by him.
A number of places and institutions like the Bridger Mountains in Wyoming and the James Bridger Middle School have been named after him.
In the film titled “The Gun That Won the West”, which was released in 1955, his character was played by Dennis Morgan.
