Davidson grew up in London. He was raised by a Scottish father and an Irish mother.
He engaged in various menial jobs before landing in comedy. He in fact stumbled upon comedy serendipitously when he offered to fill in for the comedian who failed to show up in the pub he was working.
His Comedic Journey
He has featured in several notable comedy shows. He began hosting “The Jim Davidson Show” (1979—1982), which ran for five complete series and won the TV Times award as "Funniest Man on Television".
The comedian went on several comedy tours, usually employing content he classified as “adult content” and dabbing them with names that reflect the same; for example there was “SINderella”.
He published two autobiographies “The Full Monty" [1993] and “Close to the Edge” [2001].

Jim missed an opportunity to feature in season 11 of “Celebrity Big Brother” because he was arrested at a London airport by law enforcement agents on “Operation Yewtree”; a British police investigation of allegations of pedophilia. He featured in a subsequent season. He did get the chance to appear in the show’s 13th season; he won the competition as well.
The comedian has been married multiple times. His first marriage (to Sue Walpole) lasted from 1971 to 1972. From 1987 to 1988, he was married to English journalist Alison Holloway.
