About Jim Rome
Jim Rome started his broadcasting career while he was still in university. After school, he joined a radio station called XTRA Sports 690 where he began his most popular show titled “The Jim Rome Show”. In 1996, he sold the rights of the show to CBS Sports Radio.
After a brief interview with media executive Mark Shapiro in 2003, Rome joined ESPN and started hosting his own show entitled “Rome Is Burning”. By the end of September 2021, the show boasts of about 2.5 million listeners and could be listened to on over 200 radio stations in Canada and the United States.
Controversies
He has been a subject of many controversies. During his interview with NFL star Jim Everett in 1994, he called the football player “less than a man” which led to a misunderstanding between the two during a live show.
The broadcaster has had feuds with some prominent names such as NBA’s David Stern, and former hockey star Gordie Howe.
Personal Life
In 1997 he married Janet Rome.
Education
He completed Calabasas High School before joining the University of California, Santa Barbara where he read communication.
Facts
He’s also into horse racing and owns a stable called Jungle Racing, LLC.
He was featured in the 1999 film titled “Any Given Sunday”.
