About Jimmy Johnson
Born James William Johnson in Port Arthur in Texas, he was a football coach and sports analyst.
Personal Life
He schooled in Thomas Jefferson High school and had passion for football. He played for University of Arkansas for two years from 1962.In 1964, he played for the Razorbacks and together, they won the national championship.
In 1963, he got married to Linda Kay Cooper and birthed two sons with her. The marriage ended in 1990 but he married Rhonda Rookmaaker in 1999.
Career
In 1965, he became the assistant coach for Lousiana Tech University. He went on to become the assistant coach of Picayune Memorial High School then went on to become the assistant of Witchita State University in 1967.
In 1970, he moved on to University of Oklahoma to become a defensive line coach. He has been in a few commercials including ExtenZe. He competed in the 21st edition of “Survivor”. Initially, he wanted to take part in the 17th edition being “Survivor: Gabon” but was unable to pass the physicals. He was the oldest member in the show and was eventually voted out. He mentioned that it was a great game but also the most stressful thing he had done his whole life.
Achievements
In January 2020, he was made the 328th member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Ohio. He was eventually inducted in April 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
