Jimmy Tarbuck is an English stage performer and game show host. He is a Conservative and a keen player of golf. He is credited with albums titled “Jimmy Tarbuck” and “Having a Party”. Some of his singles are “Doctor Dolittle”, “Let’s Have a Party”, “Lucky Jim”/ “Run to Him”.
Family
He was married to Pauline Carfoot in 1959 and they had three children. He is the second son of his parents Ada McLoughlin and Joseph Frederick Tarbuck.
Education
He studied at Dovedale Primary School in Liverpool.
Career
He made his first television appearance on the show “It's Tarbuck '65!” on ITV in 1964, although Bruce Forsyth had prior been introduced on television variety show “Sunday Night at the London Palladium” in October 1963. He was also host of quiz shows including, “Full Swing”, “Winner Takes All”, and hosted variety shows “Tarbuck's Luck “on the BBC and “Live from the Palladium” and “, “Live From Her Majesty's” during the 1980’s.
Tarbuck was featured on the BBC One’s “Strictly Come Dancing” in 2006. His ill health however forced him to retreat from the show. He returned in 2008, co-hosting an edition of “For One Night Only”.
The comedian appeared in a 1993 episode of the police comedy TV series “The Detectives” as Johnny McKenna. In 2015, he starred in a one-off show with Des O’Connor at the London Palladium to gather funds and support for the British Charity Royal Variety Charity.
