Jô is a renowned Brazilian soccer star whose original name is João Alves de Assis Silva. He started his professional career in 2003 with Corinthians in his native country. After two successful years with the team, he joined Russian club CSKA Moscow where he would score 30 goals in 53 appearances.
He gained global recognition in 2008 when he joined Manchester City in the English Premier League. He spent two out of his three years with City on loan at another English side Everton. He has also played for other teams such as Galatasaray, Atlético Mineiro, Jiangsu Suning, and Nagoya Grampus.
The Brazilian striker played his first international game in 2007 at the age of 20 years. Since then, he has featured for his country in a number of competitions including the FIFA Confederations Cup, and the FIFA World Cup. He was a member of the team that won the former in 2013.
He had many memorable moments with his sister Joan. He has been married to Claudia Santos.
In 2018, he won the J.League’s Top Scorer award. A year before that, he received the Bola de Ouro, and Bola de Prata awards.
