By the time of his death in 2007, Joe Nuxhall was the youngest player to join Major League Baseball at 15 years. He spent the bulk of his baseball career playing for the Cincinnati Reds.
Professional Baseball Career
During the Second World War, many baseball players were called to serve in the military. Nuxhall immediately gained the interest of scouts while in high school and in 1944 he signed a contract to play for the Reds. He later played with the Kansas City Athletics, and Los Angeles Angels and returned to the Reds before retiring in 1966, with 135 wins to his name.
Career Highlights
He was a two-time All-Star in 1955 and 1956. He was also elected into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 1968.
