About Johan Derksen
Johan Derksen is a former Dutch footballer who played for several clubs between 1966 and 1977. Following his retirement, Derksen became a sports journalist.
Amateur Career
He started his football career playing for amateur football clubs like Nieuw-Buinen and Rolder Boys. Derksen later joined the youth academy club Go Ahead Eagles.
Professional Career
After leaving the Go Ahead Eagles, Derksen joined Cambuur in 1968. He also played for other Dutch teams, including Veendam, Haarlem, and MVV Maastricht. He retired from professional play in 1977.
Entry into Sports Journalism
Following his retirement, Derkson transitioned into journalism and started contributing to newspapers, eventually becoming an editor. In 2000, he became the editor-in-chief for the magazine Voetbal International.
Controversy
Derksen has been heavily criticized for his misogynistic and racist comments. In April 2022, he made a comment about him sexually assaulting another person and refused to apologize. He briefly left his television show but came back on after the case was dismissed.
