About John Bain
John Bain was popularly known as ‘TotalBiscuit’ or sometimes ‘The Cynical Brit or TotalHalibut’. He came into the limelight as a game critic and commentator on YouTube. He started by making videos of himself, including voice-over gameplays on YouTube - this was after he had lost his job at a financial advisory company. Bain gained multiple followers via his video making works. He went ahead to partner with Sony Online Entertainment and organized a show which allowed people to play ‘Planetside 2’.
Later in April of 2014, John was diagnosed with bowel cancer and started chemotherapy treatments that same month. In October of 2015, it was reported that he had Metastatic bowel cancer to liver, and had only 2-3 years to live. This led to him disbanding his eSports team, and unfortunately gave up the ghost in 2018.

He was married to fellow internet star, Genna Bain between 2007 and 2018.

In 2014, he earned the "Trending Gamer" at the Fan’s Choice The Game Awards.
John was inducted into the "Esports Hall of Fame" in 2018.
