Personal Life
At birth, he was named Sir John Boorman and was the offspring of Ivy and George Boorman who owned a pub. He was educated at Salesian School. He got married to Christel Kruse but the marriage ended after four children. He then went on to marry Isabella Weibrecht who he had three children with. In 2020, he got married again. He lost his second child Telsche in 1996 after complications stemming from ovarian cancer.
Career
In 1965, he directed “Catch Me If You Can” then two years later, he worked on “Point Blank” too. He again directed “Hell in the Pacific” in 1968. In 1970, he wrote the drama film “Leo the Last” and went on to direct it. With the thriller “Deliverance”, he did not write it but he directed and produced it. Other shows he has worked on include “Excalibur”, “The Emerald Forest” and “Hope and Glory”.
Achievement
A lot of his works have received nominations and awards including “Deliverance” and “Hope and Glory”. These two shows have received numerous nominations.
