About John Densmore
John Paul Densmore is an American musician and actor. He developed interest in music at a young age; he started playing the piano and drums.
Personal Life
He grew up in a catholic family. He had an interesting love life; within the period of 1970 and 2020 he had divorced three times and married four times. Ildiko Von Somogyi was his fourth wife whom he married in 2020.
Education
He enrolled at the Kinnara School of Music. Densmore attended Santa Monica City College and California State University, Northridge; at the latter he studied ethnic music under jazz cellist Fred Katz.
Career
As he grew up, his musical desires grew and he partnered with Robby Krieger who was a guitarist and joined the band Psychedelic Rangers. He went on to start practicing with Rick and the Ravens but the band did not survive for long. When most of the members left, John invited Robby to become part of them thereby birthing the ensemble, The Doors. In 1973, again with Robby, he formed The Butts Band. He gave acting a shot and featured in “Army of the Dead”.
Achievements
In 1993, as part of The Doors band, he got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2007, he was recognized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in the same year, he and his band received a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement.
