International Rugby Board Hall of Fame inductee John Eales goes into the history books as one of Australia’s most successful captains of all-time. He made his Super Rugby debut in 1996 with the Queensland Reds in his native country.
International Career
Eales featured many times for the Australian rugby team. He played his first game for his country in 1991, and five years later he was appointed the captain of the team. In his first year with the Wallabies, he won the Rugby World Cup. He repeated this achievement in 1999, this time as the captain of the side.
Personal Life
He has a son named Elijah Eales who’s known to be a cricket player.
Decorations
The rugby star was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1999. Two years later, he was selected into the 'Best of the Best' category of the Australian Institute of Sport. He has been inducted into other institutions such as the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, and the Wallaby Hall of Fame.
