John Edwards is a former American politician and lawyer known for being the U.S. Senator from North Carolina, a position he held from 1999 to 2005. He is also known for being a Democratic Party presidential and vice-presidential candidate. His political career came to an end in the late 2000s after his extramarital affair with Rielle Hunter became public.
Family Life
He married Elizabeth Anania in 1977. He and Elizabeth had four children together, including Cate. The couple separated in 2010 as a result of his affair with Hunter. Elizabeth died that same year of breast cancer before they were officially divorced.
Trivia
In 2008, his illicit affair with Hunter produced a daughter named Frances Quinn Hunter, whom he denied fathering for over two years.
His first child, Wade, died in a car accident in 1996 at the age of 16.
