Early Life
The army general graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He later went on to earn a master's degree in political science at the University of Kansas and also graduated from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Coburn also has a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri School of Law.
Career
Throughout his career, he held several logistics-related positions, including that of Deputy Commanding General, Army Materiel Command, and Commanding General. From 1991 to 1992, he also served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics for the US Army in Europe and the 7th Army in Germany. Coburn had previously been the Deputy Chief of Staff for Procurement at the United States Army Materiel Command from 1989 to 1991, and the Deputy Commanding General of the 22nd Theater Army Support Command in Saudi Arabia in 1991. Coburn also fought in the Vietnam War in 1975 and the Gulf war in 1991.
