About John Glenn
John Glenn was an American Marine pilot, NASA astronaut and politician, who made history in 1962 by becoming the first American to orbit Earth. He was also known for serving as the United States Senator from Ohio from 1974 to 1999. He was honored with the highest civilian award in the United States, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 2012.

He married Annie Glenn in 1943. He and Annie had two children together.
Trivia
In 1962, he became the third American and the fifth person in the world to travel to space.
He was a personal friend to President Kennedy and his family.
In 1998, at the age of 77, he traveled to space on the Space Shuttle and made history again by becoming the oldest person to travel to space. He was still a senator when he achieved that feat.
