About John H. Striebel
American illustrator and artist John H. Striebel was best known for creating the comic strip “Dixie Dugan” together with J.P McEvoy.
Life & Works
After moving from Bertrand, Michigan to South Bend, Indiana, Striebel became one of the youngest front-page political cartoonists at just 14. He attended Notre Dame University, where he met McEvoy. After graduating, he moved to Chicago, where he worked as an illustrator in fashion and advertising.
He illustrated numerous comic strips, including “Pantomime”, “Show Girl”, and “The Potters.” He started working on “Dixie Dugan” with McEvoy and it ran from 1929 to 1966.
