About John Jay
John Jay was one of the founding fathers of the United States. He, together with other nationalists, represented America at the signing of the peace agreement known as the ‘Treaty of Paris’.
From 1789 to 1795, he served as United States’ first Chief Justice. He later worked as New York’s governor from 1795 to 1801.
He was also appointed to serve in other positions including the U.S. Secretary of State, and U.S. Secretary of Foreign Affairs.

He acquired his first and second degrees at the then King's College.
In 1964, the College of Police Science, which is under the City University of New York, was named the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in honor of the late politician.
Two of his children, Peter Augustus and William, also worked as lawyers.
He was also known for drafting New York’s first constitution.
