About John Logie Baird
John Logie Baird was a Scottish engineer and innovator best remembered for being one of the people that invented the television and for being the first person to ever demonstrate a working television. In 2002, he was ranked #44 on the BBC's 100 Greatest Britons in history. He was posthumously honored with an induction into the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame in 2015.
Family Life
He was the youngest of the four children of Jessie Morrison Inglis and Reverend John Baird. In 1931, he got married to Margaret Albu. The couple had two children: Diana and Malcolm Baird.
Trivia
He once tried making diamonds by heating graphite. The invention was not only unsuccessful but also caused a severe shortage in Glasgow's electricity supply.
