About John Madden
John Madden was a former American football player and a celebrated former NFL coach known for winning Super Bowl XI with the Oakland Raiders and for fronting the American football video games series Madden NFL, which was named after him. He is also known for his 30-year career as a color commentator for major networks CBS, Fox, ABC and NBC. He announced his retirement from NFL broadcasting in 2009.
Personal Life
In 1959, he married Virginia Fields, with whom he had two sons, Joseph and Michael.
Achievements
In addition to winning Super Bowl XI, his other achievements include being an inductee into multiple Halls of Fames, including the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the California Hall of Fame. He was placed second in Yahoo! Sports' list of the Top 50 All Time Network Television Sports Announcers.
