About John Newland
John Newland’s career in the entertainment industry began when he was a teenager. He was later signed by Warner Bros. before earning his first television role in the 1950s. In 1953, he started directing some episodes of the television series “Letter to Loretta”.
He became a household name four years later when he directed his maiden film named “That Night!”. In addition to acting and directing, Newland was also a producer. For that role, he was best known for his work on the 1987 film “Timestalkers”.
Family
Before marrying Areta Farrell in 1967, the filmmaker was the husband of Helena De Castro-Palomino Suárez. He was survived by two kids named Karen Kissler and Hillary Alexander.
Achievements
He was shortlisted for the “Best Actor” prize at the 1953 Emmy Awards. Newland was also nominated for a number of British Academy Film Awards.
Trivia
The movie star served in the U.S. Army Air Corps after completing his college education.
