About John Singleton
John Singleton was a celebrated American filmmaker and an actor, largely known for directing the movie entitled “Boyz n the Hood”. That aside, he has played crucial roles in the filming of a number of movies like “Higher Learning”, “Baby Boy”, “2 Fast 2 Furious” and “Poetic Justice”.
He developed the love for making films at a very young age and got the opportunity to work with the Creative Artists Agency during his days in the university.
Family
He’s the son of Danny Singleton and Sheila Ward-Johnson. He married Ghanaian actress and songwriter, Akosua Gyamama Busia, in 1996, but the couple went their separate ways a year later. The couple had a son.
Achievements
He was nominated for the “Best Director” prize at the Academy Award in 1991. His nomination for the award made him the youngest and the first black-American to achieve that.
