About Johnny Thunders
Despite developing a love for music at an early age, Johnny Thunders performed at a musical show for the first time at the age of 15 years. He started as a member of a group known as The Reign. He went on to perform with other bands before rising to stardom in 1971 when he made his first outing with the rock ensemble New York Dolls.
Mostly used as a guitarist, he played a very important role in the band’s self-named maiden studio album.
Solo career
In 1975, he gathered a group of musicians to form the band named The Heartbreakers. He helped the group to record their maiden album dubbed “L.A.M.F.” which was released in 1977.
The following year, he dropped his first album as a solo entertainer. The project was titled “So Alone”. He went on to issue a number of successful albums with some titled “In Cold Blood” and “Que Sera Sera”.
Family
He was known in private life as John Anthony Genzale, and was the son of Emil Genzale and Josephine Genzale. His sister Mariann died in 2009. He was survived by four kids.
Trivia
He appeared in some popular films such as “Mona et moi” and “Story of a Junkie”.
He performed with many well-known musicians like Alison Gordy and Jamie Heath.
