About Johnny Weissmuller
Johnny Weissmuller was an American professional swimmer, athlete, and actor best remembered for portraying Tarzan in the 1932 action-adventure film titled "Tarzan the Ape Man".
He also had one of the finest swimming records of the twentieth century. In addition to his five Olympic gold medals, he registered several world records.
In 1924, he won the 100-meter freestyle and the 4 x 200-meter relay team events at the Paris Games, and repeated the feat four years later at the Amsterdam Games.
Weissmuller also won a gold medal in the 400m freestyle and a bronze medal in the water polo tournament in Paris.
As an actor, he starred in a number of films and television series like “Glorifying the American Girl”, “Fury of the Congo”, and “You Bet Your Life”.
