Jon Theodore
American drummer Jon Theodore is recognized beyond the borders of America for his amazing abilities in playing drums and percussions. He is also a notable figure for being part of several successful musical ensembles.
Theodore became very known during the time he played for the Texas-based rock band called The Mars Volta. With the group, he performed along with Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala. With the said group, Theodore contributed to such projects like their 2002 EP “Tremulant” and “Frances the Mute”, which is the band’s second studio album.
He became a member of Queens of the Stone Age in 2013, performing together with fellow band mates such as Josh Homme and Dean Fertita.

Before he joined The Mars Volta he had played for other bands including the rock collective Royal Trux, which was established by Jennifer Herrema and Neil Hagerty.
He started playing drums when he was fifteen years old.
He studied at Gilman School in Maryland and was part of the school’s concert group. He also studied at Oberlin College he received training in music at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
Growing up, Theodore’s favorite music came from such artists as Elvin Jones and Billy Cobham. He has often cited the latter as his all-time favorite drummer. He has also cited the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham as one of his biggest inspirations.
The rock group Golden is one of the first bands he played for. He joined Golden while he was in high school.
His father is a Haitian.
