About Jørn Utzon
After working with a number of professionals, the Danish architect Jørn Utzon created his own studio in 1950 in Copenhagen. Through his newly-founded workplace, he worked on many famous structures but was best known as the designer of Australia’s Sydney Opera House.
Some of his most popular works were the National Assembly Building which is located in Kuwait and the Bagsværd Church in Copenhagen.
Family
His father was a famous naval architect. He married a lady called Lis and he later named one of his houses after her.
Education
He was trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
Awards
Utzon was a recipient of the Pritzker Prize.
Trivia
He was influenced by some renowned designers like Alvar Aalto and Gunnar Asplund.
He was the originator of the Additive Architecture approach.
