About José Manuel Jurado
Regarded as one of Spain’s best talents, former central midfielder José Manuel Jurado has had a pretty successful football career. He played in Spain’s La Liga for Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Mallorca, and Espanyol.
Football Career
Jurado began his football career with Real Madrid’s youth club, making his debut on the senior team in 2005. He moved to Atletico Madrid the following year, a move that was controversial since both teams were rivals. However, it was his loan spell with Mallorca that revealed his full capabilities. He featured over 30 times for the club and scored a few goals.
In 2010, he joined the Bundesliga side Schalke 04. After two years, he moved to Spartak Moscow in Russia, where he played over 40 times. In 2016, he signed for Watford in England. Jurado also played in the Saudi Professional League and China League One.
He represented his home country at the U-16, U-17, U-19, and U-21 levels, most notably in the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship and the 2009 UEFA European U-21 Championship.
Honors
Jurado received numerous honors in his career, including: 2010 UEFA Super Cup, 2007 UEFA Intertoto Cup, and the 2011 DFL-Supercup. Those silverware came during his time with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.
