About Joseph Brennan
Celebrated American lawyer Joseph Brennan gained public attention in 1965 when he was voted into the Maine House of Representatives as a representative from Portland. After six years, he was named Cumberland County’s District Attorney. He served in the Maine Senate before he was named as the state’s Attorney General in 1975.
After four years, Brennan, who is known for his association with the Democratic Party, was elected as Maine’s governor, succeeding Jim Longley. He held the position until 1987 when he was selected into the United States House of Representatives. President Bill Clinton, in 1999, chose him for the Commissioner of the Federal Maritime Commission position.
Personal Life
His two children with Norma Jane Brennan are called Patrick and John.
Alma Mater
After Cheverus High School, Brennan moved to Boston College. He later had his training at the University of Maine School of Law.
