About Joseph Hooker
After completing his military training in 1837, Joseph Hooker served in the first United States Artillery as a 2nd lieutenant. He gradually rose through the ranks and was made the commander of the then Army of the Potomac in 1863.
During his service, he participated in many battles including Mexican–American War, American Civil War, and the Seminole Wars. He would be best remembered for his defeat to General Robert E. Lee in 1863’s “Battle of Chancellorsville”.

Trivia
He was also known by the alias "Fighting Joe".
