French-born journalist Joseph Kessel rose to fame after his valiant years in the French Naval Aviation and the Free French Air Forces. Kessel also doubled as a novelist and screenwriter until he died in 1979.
Early Life
The journalist was born to Samuel Kessel. He enrolled in lycée Masséna and later became an aviator pilot in World War II (WWII).
Career
Aside from being a journalist and aviator, Hessel also produced beautiful works of writing. His first book "La steppe rouge" caught a lot of traction, and he went on to publish some more interesting ones such as "Vent de sable" in 1929, "Les Amants du Tage" in 1954 and "Les temps sauvages".
Achievements
Kessel was awarded the Legion of Honor, the highest order of merit in France.
