Best known as JPEGMafia, his international acclaim came through his 2018 album, “Veteran,” released by Deathbomb Arc.
Early Years
The son of Jamaican parents, he was born in Flatbush, Brooklyn. At age 18, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was deployed to such countries as Japan, Kuwait and North Africa.
Music Career
In his teens, he learned to sample music and was soon producing beats. He released his mixtape, “Communist Slow Jams,” in 2015 and followed up with another mixtape “Darkskin Manson.” A year later, he dropped his first studio album “Black Ben Carson.” His 2nd studio album and his most experimental “Veteran,” was released in 2018. The next year, he organized a musical tour dubbed, “JPEGMafia,” in support of his latest album. In 2021, he released his “EP2” extended play.
Trivia
In an interview with free speech society, Cambridge Union, he mentioned Kanye West as his greatest influence.
