About Juan Gabriel
Juan Gabriel was the professional alias of Alberto Aguilera Valadez, a Mexican singer, songwriter and actor. Nicknamed “Juanga”, he was one of the best-selling singer-songwriters in all of Latin America and is regarded as one of Mexico’s all-time prolific and best composers and singers. His first hit single, “No Tengo Dinero”, was from his debut studio album, “El Alma Joven” which was released in 1971.
He reportedly wrote about 1800 songs, released thirty studio albums and has sold more than 100 million records. His popular songs include “Hasta que te conoci”, “De mi enamorate” and “El Noa Noa”.
Family Life
He was born to Victoria Valadez Rojas and Gabriel Aguilera Rodriguez, who were both farmers. He was raised in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. He had six children, was never married and was assumed to be a gay man.
Achievements
He is an inductee of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame, Hollywood Walk of Fame, International Latin Music Hall of Fame and the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame.
Death
He died on August 28, 2016 from a heart attack.
