About Juan Manuel Fangio
Juan Manuel Fangio’s professional career as a race driver started in 1936. Two years later, he made his Turismo Carretera debut and became a national champion in 1940. He started gaining international attention when he participated in his first Formula One race in 1950.
By the end of 1957, the Argentine racer had won five World Drivers' Championship, making him one of the strong forces in the sport during the 1950s. During his Formula One days, he raced for a number of teams including Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, and Ferrari.
Family
His parents were Loreto Fangio and Herminia Déramo. His romantic affair with Andrea Berruet produced a child named Oscar Espinosa. He had other children called Rubén Vázquez, and Juan Carlos Rodríguez.
Achievements
In 1990, he became a member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.

In 1958, while in Cuba to participate in the Cuban Grand Prix, he was kidnapped by two gunmen believed to be a member of Fidel Castro's army.
