Holberg International Memorial Prize winner Julia Kristeva is considered as one of the most influential philosophers of her generation.
Career
Throughout her career, she has contributed to a number of fields such as critical analysis and cultural studies. Her works have addressed subjects like abjection and intertextuality.
The Bulgarian-French scholar has gone on to publish many interesting books including 1980’s “Powers of Horror: An Essay on Abjection”. In 2008, she established the Simone de Beauvoir Prize to award individuals who have pushed the gender equality agenda.
Family
Her name at birth is Yuliya Stoyanova Krasteva. She was raised by her parents alongside a sister. In 1967, she married French writer Philippe Sollers.

She’s a graduate of the University of Sofia.
Achievements
Kristeva has been decorated with many laurels including the Hannah Arendt Prize, the Commander of the Order of Merit and the Commander of the Legion of Honor.
Trivia
During the 1970s, he worked with Columbia University as one of their Visiting Professors.
In 2018, it was alleged that she was working for the Committee for State Security.
