Family
The Italian-born player and coach is the son of Divaldo and Alba Belletti. He grew up with 3 other siblings in the town of Cascavel in Paraná, Brazil.
Career
Belletti's career began in 1992 as a midfielder in Brazil but later got loaned to Atletico Mineiro in 1999, playing as an attacking midfielder. His skill and tenacity got him into famous clubs such as Villarreal in 2002, Barcelona in 2004, and Chelsea in 2007. Belletti also played for Fluminense for the 2010/11 season.
At Barcelona, he made 71 appearances between 2004 and 2007, winning a number of silverware, including the UEFA Champions League in 2006. With the English side Chelsea FC, he won the Premier League in 2010, the FA Cup twice (2008/09 and 2009/10), and the FA Community Shield in 2009.
He played 23 times for the Brazilian national team. He was part of the Brazilian squad that took home the ultimate prize at the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in Korea and Japan.
Life as a Coach
The midfield magician hung his boots and put on a suit as he was named the assistant manager of Cruzeiro in 2021.
