About Junko Furuta
Junko was a high school student whose murder case was immensely publicized during the 1980s. According to records, she was kidnapped, raped, tortured and killed by her abductors.
The crime, which occurred between November 1988 and January 1989, was believed to have been committed by some four teenage boys named Yasushi Watanabe, Hiroshi Miyano, Shinji Minato, and Jō Ogura.
The act has been described as one of the "worst cases of juvenile delinquency" in post-occupation Japan. The four offenders were later arrested and handed different sentences.
Prior to her untimely death, Junko was said to be a brilliant student who recorded good grades in school. She also worked at a plastic molding factory on a part-time basis in order to save money for her post-graduate plans.
She was laid to rest on the 2nd of April 1989. Her death has influenced many movies including the 2004 film titled "Concrete".
