About Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg
Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg is a successful German businessman who is also a well-known figure in the political scene. Known for his association with the Christian Social Union of Bavaria, Guttenberg became a member of the Bundestag in 2002 representing the people of Kulmbach.
In 2008, he was made the Secretary General of the party before being appointed the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Technology the following year. In October 2009, the Munich-born politician became Germany’s Federal Minister of Defence under the Angela Merkel-led administration.
He announced his resignation from all political activities in 2011 following a plagiarism scandal which would later be termed as the “Guttenberg plagiarism scandal”. He has also worked with the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He’s the founder of the investment company known as Spitzberg Partners.

He’s a descendant of the famous House of Guttenberg, and the son of the conductor Enoch zu Guttenberg. This politician has been married to Stephanie zu Guttenberg since 2000.
Education
Guttenberg attended the University of Bayreuth where he read law.
Honors
His service to his country earned him the Politikaward in 2009. The following year, he was voted the "Man of the Year" by Focus Magazine.
