About Kaspar Hauser
The life and death of Kaspar Hauser still remains shrouded in mystery. The German man appeared out of nowhere on the streets of the Bavarian city of Nuremberg as a teenager on May 26, 1828 with claims of having been sent to find Captain von Wessenig, a cavalry regiment captain and relay to him his desire to be a cavalryman like his father. According to Hauser, the letter he had arrived with had been penned by someone in whose custody he had been since infancy. He also claimed to have been raised in a dark cell in isolation.
Family Life
When he first arrived in Nuremberg, he had another short letter which had supposedly been written by his birth mother providing details such as his full name, date of birth and information about his father, who was dead, apparently.
Death and Aftermath
On December 17, 1833, he died from a stab wound on the left side of his chest which he had sustained from a purported attack, which has been disputed as some historians claim it had been self-inflicted.
