About Kate Ryan
Belgium-born artist Katrien Verbeeck, who often goes by Kate Ryan, is known for her works in dance-pop, Eurodance and vocal trance music. She is also acknowledged for singles "Voyage, voyage", "We All Belong" and L.I.L.Y. (Like I Love You)".
Education
Ryan attended an art school where she majored in jewelry design.
Career
She landed a recording contract while playing in bars and cafés as a youngster and became a member of the pop group Melts for two years although they did not produce any commercial content.
Ryan released her first solo “Scream for More” with Andy Janssens in 2001, after she left Melts. The song garnered some success and she launched her second single "UR (My Love)", that same year which in a way cemented her place in Belgian charts.
She gained international recognition when she released a cover of Mylène Farmer's "Désenchantée" which featured on European pop music charts. The performer exclusively launched her premiere album “Different” in 2002 under record company EMI. Two singles from the album. "Mon cœur résiste encore" and "Libertine" also became chart successes.
Between 2004 and 2007, she launched her second album “Stonger” in Europe, with lead song "Only If I", which was a considerable success. The second song "The Promise You Made", which was a cover of Cock Robin's original song, garnered even more success.
Eurosong ’06 and Other Career Highlights
In 2006, Ryan competed in Eurosong '06, and was selected as the contestant after she came first at the finals on 9 March 2006. She was honored to represent Belgium at the Eurovision semi-final which took place on 18 May 2006 in Athens where she sang "Je t'adore".
The singer later released albums “Alive” in 2006, “Free” in 2008, and “Electroshock” in 2012. Some of her popular songs are “Heart Flow”, “Light in the Dark” and “Not Alone”. The latter, which was released in 2014, is a Franco-English song.
