About Kay Bailey Hutchison
Kay Bailey Hutchison worked with KPRC-TV as a lawyer before deciding to go into politics. In 1973, she became a member of the Texas House of Representatives until 1976. After some years away from politics, she returned as the Treasurer of Texas State.
Known to be a member of the Republican Party, Hutchison was voted into the United States Senate in 1993, becoming the first female from Texas to serve in the House. In 2017, President Donald Trump named her as the country’s Permanent Representative to NATO.

Her maiden name is Kathryn Ann Bailey and was born to Allan Abner Bailey Jr. and Kathryn Ella Sharp. Her 1967 marriage to John Parks lasted for two years. She later married Ray Hutchison in 1978.
