Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori participated in his first professional tournament in 2006 after an impressive career at the amateur level.
Career
His breakthrough came in 2007 when he earned the right to participate in the Indianapolis Tennis Championship. He played in his first Grand Slam in 2008 at the Wimbledon Championship.
That same year, he won his first-ever ATP title after defeating America’s player James Blake to win the Delray Beach tournament. He reached the finals of the US Open in 2014 and was ranked among the top 5 tennis players in the world the following year.
Family
He was raised by his parents Eri and her husband Kiyoshi who worked as an engineer. He has a sister named Reina.

Nishikori won bronze at the Olympic Games in 2016.
