About Keith Sweat
Keith Douglas Sweat is regarded as one of the key personalities of the early days of the new jack swing musical movement. He began performing as a professional musician with Jamilah, a Harlem-based band in 1975. He went solo in 1984 but did not land a recording contract with a mainstream label until 1987. He has issued a number of hit songs such as “I’ll Give All My Love to You”, “I Want Her”, “Make You Sweat”, “Make It Last Forever” and “Twisted”. He has also performed as part of LSG, an R&B supergroup.
Family Life
His mother Juanita Thompson was a hairdresser and his father, Charles Sweat was a factory worker. He grew up as one of five siblings in Harlem, New York City. He has two sons from his marriage (1992-2002) to television personality Lisa Wu. He has four other children.
Achievements
In 1997, he was named “Favourite Male R&B/Soul Artist” at the American Music Awards.
