About Kelly Pavlik
American boxer Kelly Pavlik won a number of amateur titles before starting his professional career in the year 2000. Competing in the middleweight division, Pavlik gained national attention five years later when he won the NABF Middleweight crown after defeating Fulgencio Zúñiga.
His break came in 2007 when he beat fellow American boxer Jermain Taylor to win the Ring magazine, WBC, and WBO middleweight belts. He defended his crown three times before surrounding it in 2010 to Argentine boxer Sergio Martínez. He announced his retirement from the sport three years later.
Legal issues
In 2013, after failing to settle his taxi fare, the boxer was arrested for theft. The boxer was grabbed by the police again two years later and was charged with assault. He was charged with felonious assault in 2016 after shooting an unnamed person who was working near his house.
Private Life
His father Mike Pavlik Sr. played a key role in his rise to fame. He has been the husband of Samantha Pavlik.

Pavlik studied at Mahoning County Joint Vocational School, as well as Lowellville High School.

The Boxing Writers Association of America named his 2007 bout with Jermain Taylor as the “Fight of the Year”
