Kenneth D. Taylor was a Canadian diplomat who served as the Canadian ambassador to Iran from 1977 to 1980, during which he became an American hero for his role in the famous 1979 joint covert operation by the CIA and the Canadian government called the "Canadian Caper". The operation in question saw him risk his own life to help save the lives of six American diplomats during the Iran hostage crisis.

He was married to Pat Taylor and fathered a son named Douglas Taylor.

For his extraordinary actions during the Iran hostage crisis in 1981, he was honored with the Congressional Gold Medal.
