Baseball Career
After high school, he was drafted by the Minneapolis Twins during the 17th round in 1978. The following year, he appeared in games in rookie ball, hitting .203 SLG for Elizabethton Twins. He made the Midwest League in 1980 with the Wisconsin Rapids Twins. In the same year, he appeared with the Visalia Oaks in the California League. He enjoyed a great year in 1984 with .311/.383/.522 with 27 HR and 107 RBI and ranked 2nd after the MVP voting. With his impressive scores in the 1987 season, he pushed the Twins towards their AL West win.
Trivia
He contributed to the making of the 1994 baseball film “Little Big League” by sharing his baseball knowledge with the filmmakers.
