About Kiki Dee
Pauline Matthews, popularly called Kiki Dee made a name for herself and became the first female singer from the UK to be signed by Tamla Records.
Kiki's love for music was very evident in her childhood. Before teen age, she had already started participating in competitions and winning most of them.
In 1963, Kiki was spotted by a talent scout who was impressed with her talent and got her to London so she could take part in an audition. That audition landed her a contract as a solo artist with Fontana Records. Her first track was “Early Night”. She went on to release ten more singles with Fontana but still did not gain much attention with them.
In 1976, she released “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”, a duet with John and it blew up. That song was a number one hit in the US and the UK. Over the years, she released over ten albums and about forty singles. Years later, her role was portrayed by Rachel Muldoon in the musical film “Rocketman”, made based on Elton John’s life.
In her forties, she found out that she had cancer of the womb.
