Career Highlights
In 1962, the producer of Chess Record, Willie Dixon, impressed by her talent, and offered to mentor her. He produced her first single “Honky Tonky.” She made her debut as a recording artist with “Wang Dang Doodle,” which enjoyed massive success and sold more than a million copies. In the early 1970s, she signed to a new record label, Alligator, and debuted for them the 1975 Grammy-nominated song “I Got What It Takes.”
