About Kool Savas
Regarded as the King of German Rap, Kool Savas was famously a member of the rap duo Westberlin Maskulin from 1997-2000. He is often viewed as controversial due to his somewhat misogynistic and homophobic lyrics.
Early Life
Born Savaş Yurderi to a Turkish father and German mother in Aachen, Germany, Savas and his family moved back to Turkey when he was only a year old. His father, who was against the then-ruling Turkish military government, was arrested, forcing Savas and his mother to return to Germany.
Music Career
Savas developed an interest in rap when he was 12 years old and also started acting, appearing in his first film, “Geschwister-Kardesler” in 1997. That same year, he joined Westberlin Maskulin, where the band released two albums, “Hoes, Flows, Moneytoes” and “Battlekings.”
He also released 6 studio albums between 2002 and 2021 and also has several mixtapes and collaboration albums to his name.
