About Kurt Tank
Kurt Tank worked on many aircrafts during the Second World War. Some of the most popular designs of the famous German aeronautical engineer were the Fw 200 Condor, and the Fw 190 fighter which were heavily used during the battle. He started his aeronautical work in the 1920s as an employee of Rohrbach Metallflugzeug GmbH.
He later joined the Albatros Flugzeugwerke aircraft manufacturing company before it was acquired by Focke-Wulf. It was during his time with the organization that he started working on the Goldfinch (also known as the Fw 44 Stieglitz).
After WWII, he went on to work in countries like India and Argentina. He was best known for his time with Fábrica Argentina de Aviones "Brigadier San Martín" S.A.
Family
He was the son of army officer Willi Tank.
Education
In 1923, he ended his education at the Technical University of Berlin.
Prizes
The Technical University of Braunschweig celebrated him with the “Honorary Professor with chair” title.
Trivia
He collaborated with Adolf Rohrbach to build the Ro VIII Roland aircraft in the 1920s.
He also worked with the Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm as one of their consultants.
