About Kyle Petty
Born into a family of racers, it was just a matter of time before Kyle Petty established himself as one of the most talented racers of his generation. This American driver is best known for his performances in the NASCAR series.
He started gaining attention in 1979 after winning the Daytona ARCA 200. He shot to fame in 1987 after winning the Coca-Cola 600 competition. He went on to compete in events such as the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Cup Series before ending his career in 2008.
Other projects
Aside from his adventures behind the wheels, Petty has also gained fame as a musician. His career in the music industry received a massive boost in 1986 when he was signed by RCA Records. He has since recorded quite a number of tracks including "Oh King Richard" and "The Other Guy".
Aside from racing for Petty Enterprises, he has also worked as the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
Family
His grandfather Lee Petty was a popular racer and the founder of Petty Enterprises. Kyle is also one of the children of Richard Petty, also a renowned racer. He married Morgan Petty after his union with Pattie Petty came to an end.
He’s the father of the famous racer Adam Kyler Petty, who died in 2000. He had other children, Cotten Cable Petty, Montgomery Petty Montana and Austin Petty.
Achievements
In 1998 and 2000, he won the NASCAR USG Person of the Year. He has also won the National Motorsports Press Association Myers Brothers Award and has been named the NASCAR Illustrated Person of the Year.

He has featured in films like 1983’s “Stroker Ace”.
Through his Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America initiative, he has supported many charitable works.
