About Laird Hamilton
Laird Hamilton is an American big-wave surfer, inventor, model, stuntman, television personality, actor and fitness and nutrition expert. Despite never having ventured into competitive surfing, he is one of the sport’s best-known icons for co-inventing the tow-in surfing technique and for setting a record for successfully riding the heaviest wave ever.
He has been a model for a variety of action sportswear for men and appeared in television commercials for American Express. As a television personality, he has been featured in surfing-related shows.
Family Life
He was adopted by then-retired professional surfer Bill Hamilton after he married his mother, Joann Zyirek. His birth father, L.G. Zerfas had abandoned them in his first year of life. Since 1997, he has been married to professional volleyball player and model Gabrielle Reece with whom he has two children.
Trivia
He is the co-founder of Extreme Performance Training (XPT) and Laird Superfood.
